#MovingRotherham launches on September 25, 2020

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

We want to make being active the norm in Rotherham and believe that increasing levels of physical activity should be everyone’s responsibility. Why? We know that physical activity is good for individual health and wellbeing, good for communities and good for the borough as a whole.

Moving Rotherham has been developed by people across Rotherham who all share the same vision; People in Rotherham are proud to live in and contribute to stronger, thriving communities by engaging with physical activity or sport.

This vision cannot be achieved by any single organisation or services and only by working together can we attract wider partners, funding opportunities and support people to help make this happen.

#MovingRotherham is a social movement that everyone can get involved in, whether you’re a local organisation or a resident.

#MovingRotherham is about encouraging, inspiring and supporting people to move more in their everyday lives, whether that’s gardening, leaving the car and walking to your local shop or playing sport. It’s a positive campaign that celebrates the people of Rotherham, championing diversity and encouraging people from all backgrounds to share their positive physical activity stories to promote the message far and wide, that moving is for everyone.

How do I get involved?

Encourage people to share positive stories about physical activity, whether they are trying a new activity for the first time, a life-long enthusiast, encouraging a family member or friend or simply spreading positive physical activity messages.

Please use the hashtag #MovingRotherham to share stories, messages and images on social media that support this ethos.

· Can you be a champion within your organisation, encouraging staff to share stories and messages?

· Can you champion messages from your organisation?

· Can you promote to your customers/audiences?

· Can you spread the word among your professional network?

· Can you promote the hashtag through your social media channels, your website and any other online platforms you have access to?

We are asking as many people as possible to tweet on the 25th September to launch #MovingRotherham.

If you have any other ideas around how #MovingRotherham can reach more people, would like to get more involved or would like to join Rotherham Activity Partnership please speak to us on our contact page or through social media
